PAS 2035
What is PAS 2035?
PAS 2035 is the British standard for whole-house retrofit, the installation of measures that make a property more energy efficient. An energy efficient property will need less energy to heat, meaning lower energy bills and lower carbon dioxide emissions.
The PAS 2035 standard was first published in 2019 and outlines how retrofit projects should be managed and delivered. It sits alongside the updated installer standard, PAS 2030, also published in 2019.
Types of retrofit
- Wall, floor, and loft insulation
- Energy efficient windows and doors
- More efficient or renewable heating systems
- Solar photovoltaics (PV) for the generation of renewable electricity
- Draughtproofing, amongst many other smaller measures.
Why was PAS 2035 needed?
PAS 2035 was developed in response to the Each Home Counts review in 2018, which revealed high levels of failure in domestic retrofit and poor delivery standards. To avoid this in the future, PAS 2035 was developed and published as an industry-wide code of practice.
Retrofit Coordinator
The role of the Retrofit Coordinator is to manage the PAS 2035 process throughout a project. They ensure compliance with procurement, specification and delivery of measures in all domestic retrofit projects.
View coursesRetrofit Assessor
The role of the Retrofit Assessor is to carry out an energy assessment of the property as well as a condition survey and an occupancy assessment to inform the decisions about which energy efficient measures should be installed.
View coursesRetrofit Installer
The role of the Retrofit Installer is to install the energy efficiency measures recommended in accordance with PAS2030:2019, which covers the install, commissioning, and handover part of retrofit projects.
View coursesRetrofit Designer
It is the job of the Retrofit Designer to design a bespoke package of energy efficiency measures, particularly insulation and any measures that might potentially interact.
